ATTORNEY – EMPLOYMENT COUNSELING

Counsel On Call seeks an attorney near Buffalo Grove, Ill., with broad-based knowledge of labor and employment laws for day-to-day employment counseling of human resources professionals, business partners, and other lawyers.

The candidate will work on compliance with the myriad of federal, state and local laws related to all aspects of labor, employment and human resources, including various non-discrimination laws, government contracting, prevailing wage (Davis Bacon and mini-Davis Bacon laws), the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Occupational Safety and Health Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, drug testing, workers' compensation, restrictive covenant litigation, the National Labor Relations Act, and data privacy laws, among others.

Requirements for this position include the following:

 At least 10 years of experience in labor and employment law.
 Experience handling proceedings from inception through resolution before federal and state administrative agencies such as the EEOC, OFCCP, NLRB, DOL and comparable state agencies.
 Significant employment litigation experience, including at a minimum, substantial discovery practice, having taken plaintiffs’ depositions, and motion writing.
 Grievance handling and arbitration experience a big plus.
 Excellent interpersonal skills are essential as this attorney will interact with a wide variety of people throughout the organization and will be responsible for coaching and training employees and managers.
 Strong organizational skills, the ability to work well under pressure, exceptional analytical and investigative skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate well in writing and orally are also necessary.
 Able to work in a fast-paced, often changing work environment that offers a great opportunity for someone who is excited by the prospect of working in a group committed to implementing industry “best practices.”
